Stem cell engineering group
The group, lead by A/ Professor Ernst Wolvetang aims to use novel cutting-edge inter-disciplinary approaches to understand the complex molecular mechanisms that govern Human Embryonic Stem cell biology.
This knowledge is not only required for the rational design of bioreactors that can be used to expand and direct hESC into clinically relevant cell types but also elucidates key aspects of human biology such as early human development, cellular differentiation and carcinogenesis. The laboratory further has a strong interest in iPS cell technology and its clinical translation.
