New Centers for Stem Cell Research (India) - 31 July 2008
The Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT) has funded two Centers for Excellence in Stem Cells.
The first at at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, opened in 2007. The second will be a unit for hematopoietic stem cell processing at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. AIIMS will upgrade its Stem Cell Facility to a Center.
A dedicated DBT Stem Cell Institute is in planning stage.
